Frugality is Accomplished when Decorating with Paint

There are many things you can do with paint and for the cost of well under $100, you can change an entire room.

When choosing colors, pick a color that compliments you and your style- that is, the colors you are drawn to. Many people find that colors they are drawn to in clothing can also be a good indication of colors chosen for the home.

Before you choose a paint, pick many different free swatches from the paint department in a super store, or directly from a paint store.

Choose colors above and beyond the colors you are considering painting a room with... also choose an array of color swatches that compliment that color and have fun with it. Stack up those colors and play! Hold them up to the other colors in your room to see what colors will bring life to your furniture, your drapes, and other colors already within your home.

These color swatches can be a free tool to use when you choose fabrics, pillows, rugs, throws and other accents to compliment your room. So hold on to those swatches that work with the current colors within your home.

Choose colors in themes...

Earth colors consist of colors in nature and go beyond brown. There are yellows, golds, oranges, reds, greens, and an array of colors you can choose to have an earthen tone theme throughout your home. Many people will refer this to fall colors, but it is timeless since the colors are drawn from nature.

Winter colors are classic primary colors such as blue, red, yellow, white, and black. By sticking with a theme, you will have more of a classic look without colors competing with one another.

Of course, you can choose colors outside of the theme, but you will have a basic foundation to have a theme and a continuity running through your decorating.

Spring colors such as pastels and Easter colors can be a lot of fun. This is a colorful theme with a softer touch.

Summer colors are brighter than spring filled with sunny bright colors such as yellow, green, ocean blue... it is lively and bright.

Regardless of the colors you choose, you can add elegance and a vibrant new look for and be frugal at the same time.
